ExCELL is a program that helps preschool and kindergarten teachers build young children’s language and literacy skills. To help extend what children are learning in the classroom to the home, we have created a series of newsletters for families.
- Who: We have a page for newsletters only in English, as well as a page for Spanish/English and Chinese/English. Both languages are provided so that you can first go through the newsletter in your home language and then go back and use the English words.
- What: The newsletters tell families about the words children are learning in the classroom and offer suggestions for helping your child talk about the words.
- When: We suggest using the newsletters that match what your child is learning at school right now.
- How: Families can print them or just use them online on a computer, tablet, or phone. You can revisit them several times to see how your child is learning more about each word.
- Why: The more times children hear and use new words, the more likely they are to really learn and remember them.

ExCELL是一个帮助学前班和幼儿园老师提高语言教学水平的项目。为了帮助孩子们把在教室里学到的内容拓展到家里，我们为家长们提供了课程简报。
- 包含的语言：我们的简报有英文页面，也有中文+英语、西班牙语+英语的页面。您可以先用中文和孩子一起浏览一次课程简报，然后再回过头用英文浏览一次。
- 简报的内容：课程简报是老师用来向家长介绍孩子正在学校里学习的单词知识。您可以根据这些课程简报的指引来帮助孩子在家里练习和讨论他们所学的单词。
- 读简报的时机：我们建议家长把课程简报和学校的教学内容同步起来使用。这样，家长就能在家帮助孩子预习和复习当下学习的内容。
- 如何使用简报：家长可以把简报打印出来，可以在电脑、平板或者手机上使用。您可以和孩子一起反复复习学过的词汇，看看孩子对这些单词的认知有没有增进。
- 为何使用简报：孩子听到和使用到新单词的次数越多，他们真正学会并记住这些词的可能性就会越高。
