Follow these steps to move from an Emergency Permit to a permanent CTE certification.
Step 1: Emergency Permit
While teaching under an Emergency Permit, you must:
- Complete all onboarding requirements.
- Complete the OCA exams or credential review.
- Submit the Certification Request for Audit online form.
- Apply for the Experience-Based Certificate through TIMS.
Certificate Validity:
The C&T Experience-Based Certificate is valid for 5 calendar years from the date it is issued.
Step 2: Experience-Based Certificate
While teaching under an Experience-Based Certificate, you must:
- Complete all required coursework and assessments.
- Submit the Certification Request for Audit online form.
- Apply for the C&T Instructional I Certificate through TIMS.
Certificate Validity:
The C&T Instructional I Certificate is valid for 8 years of service from the date it is issued.
Step 3: C&T Instructional I Certificate
While teaching under a C&T Instructional I Certificate, you must:
- Complete all required coursework and assessments.
- Complete 3 years of satisfactory teaching while holding the C&T Instructional I Certificate.
- Submit the Certification Request for Audit online form.
- Apply for the C&T Instructional II Certificate through TIMS.
Certificate Validity:
The C&T Instructional II Certificate is valid for 99 years.
