Properties of Carbon Nanotubes and other Carbon Material

Our current interests focus on:
– Identification and quantification of chemical functionalities on the surfaces of carbon materials, including nanotubes

Identification and quantification of functional groups on single-walled carbon nanotubes via fluorescence labeling.

Fluorescence Labeling and Quantification of Oxygen-Containing Functionalities on the Surface of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes, Nikolay Dementev, Xue Feng and Eric Borguet, Langmuir, 25, 13, 7573-7577 (2009)

– Photophysical properties of carbon nanotubes

– Carbon nanotube purification methods for the efficient removal of carbon and metallic impurities

Dynamic oxidation, a novel purification method of single-walled carbon nanotubes, being ~10 faster than a traditional isothermal oxidation, yields nanotubes that are nearly free from carbon impurities.
