Tim Marshall

I was born in Moscow, Russia, and moved to America at the age of 12. I graduated from Villanova University in 2012 with a B.Sc. in Chemistry with a focus on physical and analytical chemistry. I performed undergraduate research under Dr. Bryan Eigenbrodt, where I learned electrochemistry and perovskite synthesis for fuel cell devices.

I joined the Borguet Group in winter of 2016 to focus on understanding the behavior of water at solid (e.g. mineral oxide and perovskite) interfaces using ultrafast laser nonlinear optical techniques. My latest projects focus on the interaction of water vapor with alumina for the purposes of understanding wettability and droplet nucleation, the impact of dissolved ions on water ordering and interfacial depth at alumina surfaces, and characterization of centrosymmetric and non-centrosymmetric perovskite materials to quantify the impact of surface charge on electrochemical behavior.
