Decision-Support Application for Cancer Patients Gets Further Funding
The Risk Communication Laboratory received further funding from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to expand the Gene Pilot tool, which helps educate cancer patients about a test called tumor genomic profiling and articulate common concerns patients have about the procedure.

Preventing HIV & Substance Use in Incarcerated Women: Can an App Help?
Dr. Bass, our lab director, was featured on the ReachMD podcast "Clinician's Roundtable," where she talked about how the ongoing National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)-funded study aiming to develop and pilot test an app to support women exiting the carceral system access peer support, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD), will help reduce the disproportionate burden of HIV among people in the carceral system.

Dr. Bass Awarded NIH Grant to Develop App for Incarcerated Philadelphia Women
Dr. Bass, our lab director, received a $754,000 National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant to create and pilot test an app with our partners at Temple University, University of Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia FIGHT to help women exiting the carceral system access substance use treatment and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV.
