It is not a question of if but when the next public health crisis will call scientists to the microphone, so we should be preparing people to rise to the occasion. Restoring trust in public health means revising public health curricula to include training in effective crisis communication. We also need to prepare graduates to speak with the media to convey public health evidence clearly, effectively, and saliently.
