Celebrate Open Access Week with Temple University Libraries

The text "International open access week, the cost of knowledge" sits above a shelf of books with varying price tags on them.

Temple University Libraries invites you to celebrate International Open Access Week from October 19–25! This annual celebration aims to increase awareness about the benefits of open access (OA), which is content that is made freely available online for access by anyone. This year’s theme, “The Cost of Knowledge,” recognizes that accessing and sharing knowledge is a human right. Yet the costs to do so continue to increase, often dramatically.

This year, we have developed new tools and resources to help Temple authors navigate the current open access publishing landscape and the cost to publish. Read more about each one listed below!

Open Access Journal Funding Search Tool

Did you know that the Libraries has agreements with various publishers that provide funding support for Temple affiliated authors who wish to publish in an open access journal? Use the new Open Access Journal Funding Search Tool to search for journals covered in full by Temple’s open access agreements, journals offering article processing charge (APC) discounts, and diamond open access journals that charge no APC. Search the tool by journal title, ISSN, publisher, or subject area.

Open Access Publishing Guide

The Libraries’ new Open Access Publishing guide is designed to help Temple authors confidently navigate the open access publishing landscape. Whether you are publishing open access for the first time or exploring new ways to increase the visibility of your work, the guide offers information on open access models, strategies for identifying trustworthy journals, funding opportunities, author rights, and copyright considerations.

Federal Public Access Policies for Research Guide

New federal public access requirements are changing how researchers share research data and publications. The Libraries’ Federal Public Access Policies for Research guide helps Temple researchers understand these requirements, identify which policies apply to your work, effectively communicate with publishers, and find practical guidance for compliance.
