Memory Development

Marvelous Moments

How do children learn to remember, and what does that look like in the developing brain? The Marvelous Moments study explores the development of processes such as narrative recall, as well as systems underlying memory representation. In addition to behavioral measurements of memory, our project involves a neuroimaging component in which we evaluate development of brain regions essential to memory.

We recruited 4-7-year olds to follow over two years of their life as they develop and change. Same tasks the children participated in were watching cartoons, talking about things they’ve done recently, playing memory games, and received an MRI scan.
