Omicron Delta Epsilon is one of the largest academic honor societies worldwide. It aims to:

• Recognize scholastic excellence in economics;
• Honor outstanding achievements in economics;
• Create closer ties between students and faculty in economics in institutions of higher education and among them;
• Publish its official journal, The American Economist; and
• Sponsor panels at professional meetings and the Iving Fisher and Frank W. Taussig competitions.
