RT Wise Owls

RT Wise Owls (RTWO) is a free database and information resource center developed by the Recreational Therapy Program at Temple University that contains evidence-based research and resources relevant to the scope of recreational therapy practice.

Our vision is to positively influence recreational therapy practice.

Our mission is to disseminate recreational therapy related research and resources to enhance evidence-based practice, heighten awareness and visibility of recreational therapy efficacy, and stimulate recreational therapy research.

RTWO was created in 2013 by Dr. Heather Porter, a professor in the Recreational Therapy Program at Temple University. She continues to maintain RTWO with the assistance of Temple University recreational therapy students who volunteer in the RTWO Research Lab.

The owl was claimed as Temple University’s mascot because of the school’s early roots as a night school and opportunity for higher education among blue collar workers. This website aims to continue Temple University’s legacy of providing knowledge access to a wide audience, hence the name RT Wise Owls was chosen.
