Stray Post Its: A poem by Mark Harder

My son put post its on

my life. Pink sticky notes,

written with black crayon:

Cabinet, sugar, and oats.

Lime green post its plastered

on the desk: keyboard, mouse,

and computer. Mastered

the post its in my house.

Lemon yellow post its

for numbers. Light blue for

feelings. Orange that fits

stray thoughts behind the door.

My son helped me name my

life again – father, son,

God, honest, friends, laugh, cry,

teach, study, work and fun.
