Speak each word softly

Make it very clear

Not yelling or shouting

I’m standing right here

Slow it down

There’s no need to rush

No need to fuss

Sometimes, I just may stumble

And not quite get it right

But I’m still in the struggle

Yes, I’m still in the fight

Aphasia may be tough

But I’m not giving up

I’m staying in the fight

‘Cause I know this is right

So, I’ll say each word slowly

Whether one word two or three

Yes, I do have aphasia

But it doesn’t have me

I have dignity and grace

I am free!
