This research study represents a collaboration between Temple University, the Philadelphia Children’s Alliance, and the Philadelphia Department of Human Services. It aims improve health and wellbeing of children affected by child sexual abuse by preventing it from ever happening again. We are analyzing data from Philadelphia between 2013 and 2021 to better understand why recurrence of child sexual abuse happens. We are interviewing people involved in the child welfare system, including workers, caregivers, and survivors, to get their perspectives. Using what we learn, we will develop new, practical ways within the child welfare system to better prevent abuse from happening again.
