The university has mandated we realign our student travel policy so that it follows University Risk Management guidelines. Effective immediately (Fall 2024), no SPO or student group affiliated with Fox can travel without receiving written permission first, which would come through the process below.
The process requires two forms, which are available for online completion and submission at the links below. Regardless of whether a student/student group is using university-related funding or not, the forms must be submitted. Temple University/Fox School of Business is concerned about student health & safety as they travel to conduct the missions of their student organizations. Our SPO Travel Policy has two parts – Domestic Travel (beyond the city limits of Philadelphia) and International Travel.
All SPOs planning to travel outside the city limits of Philadelphia or involving overnight stay in the city must complete the Student Organization travel approval process. The only exception to this policy is for one-day travel inside the city limits of Philadelphia. The approval process includes:
- submission of the Student Organization Travel form at least 4 weeks prior to event.
- if travelling internationally, the completion of International Risk Management’s approval process (https://finance.temple.edu/travel-planning/international-travel-planning/preparing-travel-abroad). Our process will aid you in this step.
- submission of the Student Release & Indemnification Agreement (SIRA) form for all travelers.
- written approval from Fox Dean’s Office for domestic experiences; from International Risk Management for international experiences.
The Student Organization Travel form should be completed by a designee from the SPO/group, on behalf of the entire group. It asks for detailed information about the planned activity. The second form (SIRA) should be completed by every student traveling on that requested trip. All forms will then route to Chuck Allen. They can be physically collected at the department level too, then forwarded to Chuck (charles.allen@temple.edu) in one email if that is preferred (depending on group size).
