Emily Cowell, Graduate Student

Emily Cowell is a PhD candidate in the Cordes Laboratory at Temple University focusing on deep-sea cold seep ecology, primarily around the Costa Rica margin. She undertook her previous degrees in the UK, completing her undergraduate BSc in Marine Biology at Newcastle University, and her Ocean Science MRes at the National Oceanography Centre through the University of Southampton. Her MRes thesis focused on community composition analysis of the deep-sea Crustacea of the Arabian Sea using morphological taxonomy, a skill that she hopes to utilise in her study of cold-seep communities.
