Temple University successfully hosted WIDE-HTR 2026, the Workshop on Informatics, Data Science, and Economics in Hospitality and Tourism Research, welcoming a diverse group of scholars and practitioners for a dynamic exchange of ideas at the forefront of hospitality and tourism research.
The conference was co-chaired by Dr. Yang Yang of Temple University and Dr. Minwoo Lee of the University of Houston. Under their leadership, WIDE-HTR 2026 delivered a strong interdisciplinary program focused on the application of data science, analytics, and economics to pressing issues in hospitality and tourism.
This year’s conference attracted participants from 17 institutions worldwide, demonstrating the event’s growing international visibility and scholarly influence. International representation included universities from Hong Kong, Portugal, and Mexico, while U.S. participants came from leading institutions including the University of Houston, UCF, Penn State, University of Delaware, Texas A&M, UNLV, Virginia Tech, and UMass Amherst, among others.
The conference featured invited speaker sessions, research presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, creating an environment for meaningful scholarly exchange and new collaboration. The wide range of institutional participation contributed to the depth and energy of the event and further solidified WIDE-HTR as an important platform for advancing data-driven hospitality and tourism research.
The academic strength of WIDE-HTR 2026 was also reflected in the support of several prestigious journals, including Annals of Tourism Research and the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management.
