Explore Escape → Control → Play at Pearlstein Gallery | Nov. 6

On Friday, November 6th, join Media Studies and Production Professor Adrienne Shaw for an exclusive guided visit to Escape → Control → Play: The Art of the Video Game, an interactive exhibition at Drexel University’s Pearlstein Gallery. The exhibit explores how video games can be used as spaces for resistance, experimentation, and collective action.

Moving beyond the idea of games as mass entertainment, Escape → Control → Play invites visitors to consider how interactive media can question the cultural norms and systems that shape our lives. Through imaginative, unconventional, and often playful gaming experiences, the exhibition explores how artists and creators use games to challenge dominant perspectives, envision alternative realities, and create new ways for people to connect.

We will meet in the Atrium of Annenberg Hall at 1:15pm on Friday, November 6th before traveling together to the Gallery via SEPTA. Students who register can stop by Lizzie’s office for a SEPTA pass to use on the trip!
