We need your help to understand how children think! We are scientists who research what makes children different from adults. Research uses the scientific method to collect data, or information from many people, in order to answer a question.
Our research question: How is this summer different from all other summers?
The purpose of this research project is to learn about how children and parents pay attention, especially to screens and outdoor time. Kids use a lot of new technology to play outside and inside and we need your help to keep up with all the changes!

What you should know about a research study:
We will ask you to complete questionnaires and play games for half an hour (30 min) today. You can stop in the middle at any time, and if you want to finish, return to finish it any time.
- First, you will be asked some questions about what you like to do in the summer, and on your phone, computer or tablet. We want to know about all your favorite games and apps.
- Then you will get a break – you can play a virtual fruit snack game during this break, or walk around, or use your device for whatever you choose.
- Next you will play online games: in one game, you will fill a balloon with air. In another game, you will identify the direction of the most important fish.
Your answers to these questions and all the information from this study will be kept private, not only from your parents but also from us researchers.
We will not know who you are, because you will have a new secret identity. All the information from this study will be stored with this new identity. You are:
