Dr. Sanders presents at International protistology meeting

Dr. Sanders gave a talk at the annual meeting of the International Society of Protistologists (ISOP) in Oslo, Norway- July 29 – Aug 4, 201. The presentation, entitled “Temperature-driven changes in growth and bacterivory in a common mixotrophic chrysophyte,” was co-authored by graduate student Sarah DeVaul and Dr. Adam Heinze.

Erin Graham presents at International Symbiosis Society Congress

Graduate student Erin Graham attended the 7th ISS Congress in Krakow Poland (July 2012). She presented her research on the symbiotic relationship between eggs/larvae of the spotted salamander, Ambystoma maculatum, and the flagellated green alga, Oophila amblystomatis. In addition, Congress organizers asked her to participate in a Symposium on Symbiosis Education where she presents the salamander/alga mutualism as an innovative curriculum activity.

Jesse Lepkowski joins lab team

Temple undergraduate Jesse Lepkowski started in the lab in May 2012 and will begin working on new projects with mixotrophic flagellates.  His interest in fungi may lead to new investigation of freshwater chytrids by the lab.
