Temple News – hiring three positions!

The Temple News is hiring in three salaried positions, available to all students.

Assistant News Editor: The Assistant News Editor will assist the News Editor in managing coverage of the Temple and North Philadelphia community, including pitching, editing and writing stories on a weekly basis. The assistant editors should have a good understanding of the inner workings of the Temple community and be available to work in the newsroom to assist in the online and print production processes. The assistant editors should be prepared to help handle breaking news or other time-sensitive coverage.

Investigations Reporter: The Investigations Reporter will assist and support the Editor in pitching weekly and writing stories once or twice a month. They will participate in weekly Investigations meetings. They may conduct interviews to support others’ investigative pieces.

Business Manager: The Business Manager will be responsible for assisting in managing The Temple News operating budget and organizing freelance writer contracts and payroll information in a spreadsheet shared with all members of staff. The Business Manager is also responsible for helping record and organize digital and print advertising sales.

Students interested in the Assistant News Editor, Investigative Reporter and/or Business Manager positions should email The Temple News’ editor-in-chief, Sidney Rochnik (editor@temple-news.com), with a current resume, name of the position(s) they’re interested in and a paragraph about why they’re applying and why they’re a good fit for the job. Students can apply for as many positions as they’d like.

Submissions for staff applications are due by Monday, September 22.
