Join us in the Honors Lounge Gallery (Tuttleman 204) for our opening reception of Oh Daydi: An Uzebk Odyssey by senior architecture student Sumayyah Nabiyeva. Friday, April 4 Honors Lounge Art Gallery (Tuttleman 204) 3 – 6pm Explore the show! Eat cheese! From the artist: Daydi—a playful childhood nickname that has followed me throughout my life, meaning “wanderer” or “carefree wanderlust” in Uzbek. Its sweetness lives in my mother’s laughter—”Oh, Daydi!” she’d giggle as I returned from my many adventures. The very phrase that accompanied me across oceans, from Italy to Japan, carrying with it the essence of a life lived in motion. My work is an ode to impermanence, to the pull of fate that leads us to unexpected places. Through mixed media collage and on-site sketches, each piece becomes a time capsule—fragments of memory, emotion, and discovery, intertwined with architecture molded by human experience. |
