Steve Pote

As an information security professional and CISSP, I hold a master’s in cybersecurity with advanced studies in intrusion detection, penetration testing, architecture, OS security, and ethical hacking. I have 20+ years of experience in common applications, programming, systems, and databases, with strong knowledge of application design and data-driven development. In short, I’m a security-focused professional who can code.

I excel at troubleshooting, writing efficient code, solving complex problems, and rapidly adapting to new tech. I’ve often been added to teams as a liaison for my ability to understand system connections and the big picture.

My interpersonal and communication skills are excellent. I’ve been a trainer, lecturer, and go-to person—not just for what I know, but for my ability to find and explain information to any audience. This applies to technical puzzles or customer service challenges alike. I’ve presented to audiences of 200+.

I’m passionate about information security and its moving parts—from NIST to Python. I can pick a lock and brief the C-suite at the same time. Hobbies include SDR, WiFi/Bluetooth sniffing, Scapy, and packet analysis. I volunteer with BSides (speaker) and the SCA (coach and webmaster).
