Welcome to the Neurochemistry and Cognition (NECO) Lab website in the Department of Psychology at the Temple University.
Our research generally concerns neuromodulation of cognitive processes, with a primary focus on attention and executive functions. Cognitive impairments represent an important attribute of age-related neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, and major neuropsychiatric conditions including substance use disorders and schizophrenia. Our research program is motivated by the goal of achieving a better understanding of the underlying neurochemical causes of the cognitive dysfunction associated with these pathologies. This research is important because identifying the causal mechanisms along with potential biomarkers may allow us to design interventions to treat cognitive disorders.
