Our Team

  • Dr. Annemarie Hindman (TU) serves as PI of the project. Dr. Hindman’s expertise is in early language and literacy learning and instruction, with a particular focus on providing pre-service education and in-service professional development to teachers of young children in high-poverty communities. At Temple, she leads the College of Education’s Early Childhood Education teacher certification program, and she directs the Center for Assessment and Evaluation.  In this project, she will bring the latest research findings to the candidates and their mentors.
  • Ms. Denise Rogers, Co-PI (PFT), an NBCT, is the Elementary Vice President/Special Assistant to the President of the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers. In this project, Ms. Rogers will ensure all of the PFT’s commitments are fulfilled, to include: 1) assisting  recruitment of teacher candidates,  2) providing  NEA “Jump Start” training for current NBCTs; assisting in the development of the Early Literacy course materials to ensure that so that it interfaces with the School District’s Early Literacy Initiative  and the NBPTS standards; and 3) serving as a liaison with the School District of Philadelphia to identify priority schools that will provide cohorts of teachers pursuing NBPTS certification.

  • Ms. Meredith Mehra (SD) serves as the Deputy Chief, in the Office of Teaching and Learning.  A Teach For America corps member, Meredith began her teaching career with the School District of Philadelphia as a middle school and high school math teacher.  After teaching four years at FitzSimons High School, Meredith joined KIPP Philadelphia Schools as a Miles Family Fellow.  While at KIPP, Meredith taught 8th grade math, was the Assistant Principal, and then the School Leader.  Since rejoining the District, she has focused her work on the development of teachers across the District through professional learning opportunities and coaching. In this project, she provides expertise on how best to help Philadelphia teachers approach and master the tasks of the National Board process.
