Dr. Fauzia Ahmad, the Director of the MSI Lab, gave a keynote talk on “Human Gross Motor Activity Recognition for Emerging Radar Applications,” at the International Conference on Radar in Brisbane, Australia in late August. Her talk presented recent developments in radar-based motion classification for remote patient monitoring, eldercare, and self-driving cars. Dr. Ahmad also participated in a Women in Engineering/Young Professionals panel discussion at the conference. With the theme “New Frontiers in Radar,” the conference fostered international relations set up between the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Chinese Institute of Electronics, the Institution of Engineers Australia and France’s Société de l’Electricité, de l’Electronique, et des Technologies de l’Information et de la Communication.
