The Multimodal Sensing and Imaging (MSI) Laboratory operates under the auspices of Temple University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The Lab is directed by Dr. Fauzia Ahmad, who is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Temple University.

MSI Laboratory members pursue advanced research, analysis, and development efforts related to microwave, millimeter wave, and acoustic/ultrasonic modalities for a variety of defense and civilian applications. The focus is primarily on providing mathematical foundations  and developing optimal and robust algorithmic solutions to pressing problems in the broad areas of multi-sensor signal processing, machine learning, and distributed/networked systems. These efforts are fully supported at each step by testing and validation using real data collected in the MSI Lab.

Currently, the research efforts in the MSI Lab are focused on passive synthetic aperture radar imaging, underwater sonar array processing, forward-looking ground penetrating radar, remote patient monitoring and eldercare, automotive radar, distributed signal processing, graph signal processing, additive manufacturing, and coexistence of radar and communications.
