Paper on a bioinspired directional microphone published by JASA Express Letters
Our paper on an optical directional microphone inspired by the internal coupling of lizards is published by JASA Express Letters (DOI: 10.1121/10.0005667). Titled “a bio-inspired optical directional microphone with cavity-coupled diaphragms”, this work seeks to address the fundamental size limitation in directional hearing devices.
Dr. Qian Dong attends commencement
Here are Dr. Qian Dong and Dr. Liu at commencement for Spring, 2021 on May 7, 2021. Qian will be working as an Acoustic Engineer for Goertek USA in San Jose, CA. Congratulations and best wishes to Qian.
Qian successfully defends his dissertation
Qian successfully defends his dissertation titled “Acoustic-structural interaction and its applications in sensor development and metamatreials” on April 29, 2021 after five years of doctoral study at Temple. Thanks to all the committee members (Dr. Ling Liu, Dr. Albert Kim, and Dr. Yimin Daniel Zhang). Congratulations to our first doctoral student graduate, Dr. Dong.
Xiaolei publishes a paper on the vibrations of buckled beams
Ph.D student Xiaolei Song and Dr. Liu publishes a paper on Journal of Vibration and Acoustics about the free vibration of bistable clamped-clamped beams. In this paper, we present our study including analytical modeling and experimental method on bistable clamped–clamped beams, aiming to understand the detailed snap-through process and the ensuing vibration. It will appear on the June, 2021 issue of the journal.
