Dr. Liu receives an NSF award, titled “Doubly Negative Acoustic Metamaterials with Air-Coupled Diaphragms”, from the Dynamics, Control and System Diagnosis (DCSD) program. Starting from July 1, 2017, this three-year award for a total of $313,561 will enable Dr. Liu and his group to conduct research into a new type of doubly negative acoustic metamaterial that has the potential to transform many applications requiring double negativity (e.g. sub-wavelength imaging and transformation acoustics) and complex geometry (e.g. acoustic metasurface).
