Which is more important, an internship or a research experience?
This is personal choice. You get more practical experience in an internship. Many internships are paid positions, but some require you sign up for credit and thus pay the university to work at your internship. You might be better off paying for an upper level class.
You get to know a faculty member during your research experience. You get exposure to new techniques. Summer research is sometimes paid, but you need also to be willing to devote time and energy on your own.
How do I find an internship if I am interested?
Check sites.temple.edu/eesconnection
This is the website where incoming opportunities (jobs and internships) are posted. The posting should say which is it. These are typically time sensitive so check regularly. You can also attend the CST job and internship fairs.
While there are a few internships available for our majors, it is less common than some majors. Job postings are more common than internship postings. You may have to find your own internship if this is something that interests you.
Do I have to have an internship to get a job?
You do not have to have an internship or a research experience to get a job or get into graduate school although either one can help. But do not flit from project to project! Showing a deep interest in one project allows you to progress to more advances tasks, which is more impressive to employers and graduate admissions committees.
