My name is Jake Lang, and I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Temple University. I am currently continuing my education as a graduate student in the Professional Science Master’s in Sustainability program, where my focus is on biodiversity conservation. My academic experiences reflect a strong interest in understanding how human activities influence ecosystems, especially in the context of habitat resilience and species diversity.
Within the Cordes Lab, I study species richness and diversity of invertebrate communities that inhabit hard substrates in the deep sea. My work centers on investigating ecological patterns and community composition in areas affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. By examining how these invertebrate assemblages respond to a large disturbance and environmental shifts over an extensive amount of time, I aim to contribute to a better understanding of ecosystem resilience and conservation strategies for deep-sea habitats.
