Lexi Wysocki

Hi, I’m Lexi (she/her)! I’m a PhD student in the Cordes lab, where I am investigating ecological interactions and community structure of deep-sea seamount ecosystems. My research focuses specifically on a Muusoctopus spp. octopus nursery on Pacific Costa Rican seamounts.

Before joining the Cordes lab, I received a Master of Professional Science in Exploration Science from the University of Miami in 2024 where I created an eLearning training course for “Eyes on Seagrass,” a Florida Sea Grant citizen science project. In 2021, I graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, where I researched best practices for science communication on social media platforms like Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).

My goal has always been to study deep-sea ecosystems and octopi, but with my background in science communication, I hope to successfully demonstrate the importance of marine science and inspire the next generation of scientists.
