Yunqian (Joy) Zou

Yunqian (Joy) Zou, yunqian.zou@temple.edu

Zou was born in mainland China and obtained my chemistry bachelor’s degree from Purdue University. Following that, she pursued a chemistry master’s degree at Ball State University. Currently, she is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in Chemistry at Temple University, specializing in vibrational spectroscopies.
Zou’s research focuses on charge distribution, molecules orientation and vibrational lifetime, and H-bonding networks at the interface using surface-sensitive techniques: sum frequency generation (SFG), second harmonic generation (SHG), and static and dynamic contact angle measurements. Utilizing vibrational spectroscopies to probe the organization of confined water in between layered materials.
