The James A. Barnes Club, Temple University’s graduate student history organization, is pleased to announce the 31st Annual Barnes Club Graduate Student History Conference.
The Barnes Conference will be held Friday evening March 13th and Saturday March 14th, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Temple University’s Center City Campus in downtown Philadelphia. The Barnes Conference is one of the largest and most prestigious graduate student conferences in the region, drawing participants from across the nation and around the world.
We are so excited to announce the 4th Undergraduate Student Poster Session. This will be held during the day on Saturday. If you are an undergraduate student engaging in any kind of humanities research, we highly encourage you to submit a proposal! Presenting at the Barnes Conference is a fantastic opportunity for undergraduates looking to gain experience presenting original research in a professional academic setting! Poster Abstract Submissions are Due March 1, and can be submitted through the QR Code above.
The Barnes Conference is also pleased to offer the Undergraduate Poster Award, a cash award which will be awarded on March 14, 2026, at the conference’s closing ceremony. If you have any questions, please email: jabconf@temple.edu.
Why Present a Poster?
If your work lends itself to visual presentation-photographs, maps, material culture, or statistical evidence that can be presented graphically, think about proposing a poster. Posters encourage one-on-one conversation between presenters and their audience and are particularly helpful to students seeking feedback on work in progress. A poster presentation provides an excellent opportunity to build a professional network and engage with humanities professionals researching related topics. Poster presenters gain experience describing their work in a short, informal presentation and typically receive more audience feedback than panelists.
You may have your posters printed at a print shop, copy center, or campus printing service. Materials can also be mounted on tables using a tri-fold poster board available at almost any store where school or office supplies are sold.
Poster Proposals: Due March 1st, abstract submissions will be accepted through this link (https://forms.gle/Hz3yic4kKvRuAuWR9)
To submit a poster, students will need:
- Poster title
- Abstract of poster (up to 500 words)
The abstract should describe how the poster will present information visually, as well as the themes and main questions of your research
- A CV or a resume
