Q: What smart home systems can accommodate AXIOM?
A: In theory, AXIOM can overlay any smart home system that supports third-party apps/modules and subscription to sensor events. Some auxiliary features may be limited or disabled on some platforms.
Q: Does AXIOM function if multiple people are in the house?
A: Yes and No. While AXIOM will filter erroneous activity events caused by having multiple persons in the house for a limited amount of time, it cannot generate meaningful data if a home is occupied by multiple people for an extended period of time. Its entire goal is to provide axiomatic data of a person’s movements when there is no one else present to observe it.
Q: How can AXIOM be extended?
A: Currently this is a nontrivial process requiring access to AXIOM’s core code and knowledge of a Data Manipulation Language. Research is being done on DSLs and query generators to simplify this process.
Q: How do I get access to AXIOM if I believe it has application in an unexplored domain?
A: Submit a request explaining the domain and use case for review.
Q: Can data sets from the project be made available to other researchers?
A: Absolutely! Simply submit a request and we’ll be in touch.
