Community Engagement

RISE Lab CAB Members (Back Row) & Research Team (Front Row)

What was our process?

We engaged with existing networking spaces for food security and connected with individuals interested in representing their organizations. Ranging from parents, educators, students, and public health workers, our community advisory board enriched this project with their diverse expertise.

Why do we engage community members?

Typically, research with vulnerable populations is accessible only through peer-reviewed articles, limiting access for the target audience. As part of our mission, we are committed to expanding knowledge and buy-in within the broader community. We believe in helping others help themselves. Engaging community members in every step of this project makes it easier to develop effective methods of dissemination.
