Latanya N. Jenkins was an academic librarian and an award-winning co-author of the book: Government Information Essentials. The Government Documents Round Table of the American Library Association (ALA), of which she is a past emerging leader, awarded the Margaret T. Lane & Virginia F. Saunders Memorial Research Award in 2019.
She was also an IFLA fellow for the World Library and Information Congress in Columbus, OH and a past Association of Research Libraries (ARL) diversity scholar and mentor. Latanya was an inaugural diversity fellow and visiting assistant professor at Purdue University Libraries and a past participant in the Minnesota Institute for Early Career Librarians from Traditionally Underrepresented Groups.
Currently, she worked as a reference librarian at Temple University’s new Steve Charles Library in Philadelphia, PA, where she participates in the Faculty Senate committee on the Status of Faculty of Color and the International Programs committee. She was a proud ally and member of the library’s new TULUP Diversity & Inclusion committee, which was a recent recipient of the campus Lavender Award.
Her areas of responsibilities included Africology and African American Studies and government information. Latanya was the liaison for Temple University’s esteemed Africology and African American Studies department.
