About ACCORD

Created in 2009 by then Provost Lisa Staiano-Coico, ACCORD is an autonomous, faculty-driven think tank and research center dedicated to the scholarly explorations and practical applications of all aspects of diversity and its implications. The ACCORD vision is to bring together Temple scholars, students, community members and others interested in conducting and applying diversity-related research.

The foundation of ACCORD’s philosophy is to conduct and promote research, not simply for knowledge generation but for knowledge application, and to research the benefits and challenges inherent in forging a world that leverages the power of diversity.

ACCORD’s goal is to encourage more understanding among groups to foster inclusivity and to generate specific prescriptions for changes in policy and practice to reduce ethnic/racial disparities as well as respond to inequality regarding gender, sexual identity, age, disability and a wide range of other identities.
