Artist’s Statement

As far back as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a director. From my first time accidentally stumbling upon Casablanca, to settling in for a seven-hour screening of War and Peace, films, their history, and their intricacies have been an integral part of my life. As a director, I would describe myself as “product over profit”.

Some might argue that “there are no new stories to tell, only the same few stories told over and over”. To that, I would argue that that only proves no matter where one comes from, there are inherently shared experiences and perspectives to share with the rest of the world- that is, through the uniquely human capacity for storytelling.

One truth which I have always held to be self-evident is the adage “film is the universal language”, a saying as old as the industry itself. In a world increasingly, unceasingly polarized, I want to use my platform as an artist not just to explore the human condition but to bring people together- not to wax philosophical, but to demonstrate that there is more that binds us than separates us.
