Resa Jones, MPH, PhD (ex oficio member)
Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and a primary member of the Fox Chase Cancer Center. Seasoned leader and educator with a strong portfolio in epidemiological research who is leading the department’s development and research growth and its pedagogical mission. Leads the Behavioral and Cancer Epidemiology Research Program. Beth Heuer, DNP, CRNP, CPNP-PC, PMHS, FAANP
DNP Program Director and Associate Professor of Instruction in the Nursing Department. She is a pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) and pediatric primary care mental health specialist (PMHS). She provides care in an integrated mental health clinic through Temple Primary Care Pediatrics. She has given expert lectures at local, regional and national levels, developed important workshops, co-wrote several book chapters in nursing textbooks, and has published in multiple peer-reviewed journals. Michelle Scarpulla, MPH
Full time Instructor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences since 2013, has over 20 years of experience as a community health educator. Most recently, she worked as a sexual health trainer where she led multiple workshops and trainings, in person and online, for school and community educators around the country about how to teach age-appropriate and comprehensive sexuality education to young people. Tulay Soylu, PhD, MHA, MBA
Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Health Services Administration and Policy since July 2020. Her research focuses on primary care practice transformation, quality improvement, workplace burnout, and depression and anxiety among healthcare workers. She has extensive experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining academia, she worked as a consultant in the healthcare industry for six years, held various leadership positions at 3M healthcare corporation for 10 years, and worked as a nurse in the intensive care unit of cardiovascular surgery for eight years. Carolina Villamil Grest, MSW, PHD
Assistant professor in the School of Social Work. Her overarching research aims to reduce longstanding social and structural health inequities among underserved U.S. communities, with a focus on the Latino/a/Hispanic populations. Approaching this research with an interdisciplinary lens, she uses advanced quantitative and community-engaged methods to develop, implement, and evaluate prevention and intervention approaches that prevent and alleviate stressors, enhance social inclusion, and improve health disparity outcomes.
