Chang-hee Won, Ph.D.

Director, CSNAP Laboratory; Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department 

Chang-hee (Andy) Won is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the director of Control, Sensor, Network, and Perception (CSNAP) Laboratory at Temple University. Previous to coming to academia, he worked at Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute as a senior research engineer. Currently, he is actively guiding various research projects funded by NSF, Pennsylvania Department of Health, and Department of Defense. He published over 120 peer-reviewed articles and received multi-million dollars of research funding as a principal investigator. He is a frequent reviewer for the NSF review panels, and sits on NIH Biomedical Imaging Study Section. His research interests include optimal control theory, spectral imaging, and tactile imaging system.

Stephen Lash, BSEE, MSEE 

Ph.D. Graduate Student

Steve Lash is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Temple University. His research interests include optimal and stochastic control, robotics, dynamics, and mechatronics. He received a bachelor’s degree from the Pennsylvania State University in 2007. After several years in the industry, he returned to graduate school at Villanova University where he earned a Masters’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on dynamics and control in 2013. He is a registered Professional Engineer, has over 14 years of industry experience in autonomous systems in both aerospace and maritime domains, and is currently a Lead Autonomous Systems Engineer with the MITRE corporation.

Nazia Rahman, BSEE

Ph.D. Graduate Student

Nazia is a graduate student at Temple University, pursuing a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering. She received her bachelor’s degree from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology in 2017. She joined the CSNAP laboratory in August 2021. Her research interest includes control and tactile sensation imaging.

Jack Bannan, BSEE

Ph.D. Graduate Student

Jack is currently a graduate student at Temple University, pursuing a PhD. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 2022 and joined the CSNAP laboratory in August 2022. His current research interests are imaging, tactile sensing, and photonics.

Sung Choi, BSEE, MSEE

Ph.D. Graduate Student

Sung In Choi received her A.A. Degree in Biomedical Equipment from Delaware County Community College in 2009. After working one and half years as a biomedical equipment technician, she is now pursuing a doctoral degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Temple University.

Arpita Das, BSEE

Ph.D. Graduate Student

Arpita is currently a graduate student at Temple University, pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Bangladesh in 2019. She worked as a lecturer at Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) after that and joined the CSNAP laboratory in August 2022. Her current research interests include e-health, control algorithms, sensors, and tactile sensation imaging.

Vira Oleksyuk, BSEE, Ph.D.

ASML Technologies

Vira Oleksyuk graduated with the bachelor’s and doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Temple University. She joined CSNAP Laboratory in December 2011. Currently she is a senior design engineer at ASML. Her research interests include tactile sensation imaging and spectroscopy. Vira is an NSF Graduate Fellow.

Firdous Saleheen, Ph.D.

ASML Technologies

Firdous Saleheen received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2008. After that, he worked in the Research and Development Department, Mango Teleservices Ltd. as an Engineer, later a Senior Engineer. He joined CSNAP laboratory in 2011, and received his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Temple University in 2013. In 2017, he received his doctoral degree at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Temple University. He participated in color science research at U.S. FDA as an ORISE fellow in summer 2016. His research interests include dynamic sensing, biomedical imaging sensors and systems development, color science, digital pathology, whole-slide imaging, robotics, machine learning, and statistical control theory. He worked at EDDA Technologies from 2017 to 2021 in robotics. Currently he is working at ASML Technologies.

Chukwuemeka Aduba, MSEE, PhD

Chukwuemeka Aduba received an M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Temple University.  His research interests are multi-agent systems, wireless networks and optimal control.

Bill graduated with a master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Temple University in 2017. Currently, he is working with the Navy.

Salvatore Giorgi, BSEE

Sal received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at Temple University in 2012 and MSEE degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research interest includes optimal cost density shaping, statistical control and adaptive neural control.

Katelaine Frandsen

Siemens Corp.

She is currently working at Siemens as a software engineer helping to develop Soarian, a medical database used in hospitals throughout the nation. She also works as a research assistant through the CSNAP labatory. Katelaine is predominantly interested in cancer technology and medical software. After graduation, she plans to either attend grad school for bio-medical engineering or to pursue a job in medical techonology.

Amrita Sahu, B.Tech.

Amrita received her B.Tech. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata, India in 2011. She received MSEE degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Temple University. Her research interests include tactile sensation imaging, wireless sensor networks and neuromorphic engineering.

Reshma Rajan, PhD.

Zicong Wang, BSEE, MSEE

Zicong received his B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Wayne State University, Detroit in 2013. He is now pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Temple University. His research interests include dynamic control system, virtual lab system and tactile sensation imaging device based on a smartphone. Currently he is a software Developer at National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)

Jesse is a graduate student at Temple University pursuing an M.S in electrical engineering. He joined CSNAP May 2015 and has since worked on the Tactile Imaging System project and spectral imaging system. Currently, he is a Wire Design & Installation Engineer at Boeing.

Jong-Ha Lee, MSEE, Ph.D.

Jong-Ha received his B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from Inha University, S. Korea in 2000, and his M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York University, N.Y. in 2006. He obtained a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Temple University. He worked at Samsung as a principal researcher in 2011-2012. His research interests are tactile sensation imaging, pattern recognition, machine intelligence, image registration and Nash game optimization theory.

Ron Deirsing, Ph.D.

Ron is an assistant professor at the University of Southern Indiana. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and he received his doctoral degree from the University of Notre Dame. His research interest is in control systems with medical imaging applications.

Lei Zhang, PhD.

Lei received the Ph.D. degree from Harbin Institute of technology, China in 2013. He is currently a Post-doc Research Fellow at Arizona State University. His research interests include image processing, GPU, and deep learing.

Zexi Liu, MSEE

Jersey Liu received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Huazhong University of Science & Technology, China in 2006. He graduated with MSEE degree in Electrical Engineering at Temple University. His research interests include instrumentation, measurement and control systems.

Eghonghon graduated from Temple University with a BSEE in 2008. At his time at Temple and CSNAP, he worked on projects involving biomedical imaging and image registration. He has an interest in biomedical applications and control systems.
