Eli’s new article, “When Clarity Starts to Sound Like AI, Democracy Is in Trouble”, has been published in Arcade, Stanford’s digital salon. The article argues that AI has turned clear writing into an object of suspicion, pushing writers to prove their humanness through personal style, which favors insiders and shuts strangers out. Rather than better detection or personal pledges, Eli argues we need new public infrastructure: a “handshake” for cognitive work that keeps authorship and accountability with people without surveillance.
