Welcome to the CHEER Lab

The CHEER Lab advances cancer health equity through rigorous scientific inquiry. We investigate the structural, social, and behavioral drivers of cancer disparities and translate our findings into evidence-based interventions that reduce inequities across prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.

Key Focus Areas

  • Social Connection: Examining how social networks and relationships shape cancer-related risk behaviors, including tobacco use, among high-risk populations.
  • Anal Cancer Prevention: Improving uptake of HPV vaccination and anal cancer screening.
  • Cancer Care and Survivorship: Improve sexual health and health-related quality of life outcomes.
  • LGBTQ Cancer Disparities: Identify unique needs of LGBTQ populations across the cancer care continuum and develop culturally responsive interventions to address those needs.
