At the Child and Adolescent Anxiety Disorders Clinic (CAADC) at Temple University, we provide help for children who suffer from anxiety disorders.
Will my child qualify for treatment?
We see children ages 7-17 who live in the greater Philadelphia area. Our treatment is for children who suffer from excessive anxiety that interferes with academic or social activity.
Treatment Information
Our clinic uses a cognitive behavioral therapy approach to treat anxiety. The standard treatment is 16 weeks, although the exact length varies based on the client’s needs. Our staff continually assesses and evaluates the effectiveness of these approaches, and adapts new techniques as necessary. Therapy is conducted by advanced doctoral graduate students who are supervised by licensed Ph.D.-level psychologists, which has yielded promising results. Please contact our intake coordinator at (215)204-7165 for details.
Beginning Treatment
If you feel your child could be served by the CAADC and you are in the greater Philadelphia area, you may contact us with a brief description of your child’s presenting problems. If we think your case is appropriate for the treatment we provide, we will begin the intake process. If not, we will help you with appropriate referrals that best suit your child’s needs.
Therapy Fee
The fee for therapy sessions for our clinic is determined based on a sliding scale (i.e., $0 to $150), depending on estimated annual household income and number of dependents. Due to our research-based clinic, the CAADC can provide accessible and affordable services on a range-based system. Please contact our intake coordinator, at (215)204-7165 for details.
Medication
We do not offer medication management at our clinic. However, when one of our clients is receiving medication under the care of another provider, we seek to remain in contact with that provider. We will ask specific questions about current medications your child is taking to determine whether our program will suit your child’s needs.
Information Required:
Depending on the treatment, we may require the completion of the following:
- An intake interview with the child and parent(s).
- Assessment forms by child, parent(s), and teacher. We ask that these forms be completed before, during, and after treatment.
- An assessment interview following the conclusion of the treatment.
Clinic History
Professor Philip Kendall first established the CAADC in 1985. The clinic is one of the first of its kind in the world and has been responsible for cutting-edge research in childhood anxiety disorders since its inception.
