Randy Espinal, randy.espinal@temple.edu
Randy Espinal is a current undergraduate biochemistry student at Temple University with a strong passion for learning and an interest in biopharmaceutical development. He was born in New York as a first generation student, but spent the majority of his upbringing in Reading, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Muhlenberg Highschool in 2021 before moving to Philadelphia to pursue his B.S in biochemistry. Randy has a strong passion for organic chemistry and biochemistry, and loves to help people find enjoyment in these subjects. This passion for helping others is what motivated him to become a tutor at the Temple Student Success Center to assist other undergraduate students with their challenging chemistry and mathematics courses.
Since joining the Borguet group in the spring of 2024, Randy has been studying the catalysis of important biomolecules, specifically adenosine triphosphate (ATP) utilizing different metal oxyhydroxide species. After completing his undergraduate degree, Randy plans on working an industry job that focuses on biopharmaceuticals and drug/vaccine development. However, Randy hopes to be able to keep pursuing his education after gaining some work experience and being able to learn more about his research interests before pursuing them at graduate school.
Aside from academic interests, Randy is an amateur Muay Thai fighter and kickboxer. He also loves his cat!
