BETT Program participants will have the opportunity to join several planned trips during their six-week stay at Temple University.

Tuesday, July 2, 2019 US History, Society & Culture Excursion – Liberty Bell & Independence Mall
Visit the Liberty Bell in Independence National Historic Park and grab a photo with Independence Hall in the background!

Saturday, July 6 , 2019 Optional Excursion – Shopping Trip in NJ
Visit Gloucester Premium Outlets in NJ, an outdoor mall with a large selection of stores.
WEEK 2
Tuesday, July 9, 2019: US History, Society & Culture Excursion – Reading Terminal Market
Explore some of the best food, drinks, groceries, and souvenirs that Philadelphia has to offer at the nation’s oldest continuously running farmer’s market! Visit their website for more information.
Thursday, July 11 , 2019 Optional Evening Activity- Ice Cream Social
Enjoy ice cream with your fellow participants and IELP staff and students. This event will be held on Temple University’s main campus in one of our green spaces.

Saturday, July 13, 2019: US History, Society & Culture Excursion – New York City
A bus ride will take you to the most populous city in the US. BETT participants can follow our interns around Manhattan or choose to explore on their own.
WEEK 3
Tuesday, July 14, 2019: Optional Trip – Philadelphia Phillies Game
Enjoy a Philadelphia Phillies game with your fellow participants and IELP staff. The Phillies compete in Major League Baseball as a member club of the National League East division.

Friday, July 19, 2019: US History, Society & Culture Excursion – One Liberty Observation Deck
Enjoy the panoramic bird’s-eye view of Philadelphia at the city’s newest attraction from the 57th floor of One Liberty Place in Center City Philadelphia! For more information, please visit the website here.

Saturday, July 20, 2019: US History, Society & Culture Regional Trip – Ocean City, NJ
Known as “America’s Greatest Family Resort,” the island has something for everyone! It is famous for its large safe beaches, its boardwalk full of stores and restaurants, and its amusement parks.

WEEK 4
Tuesday, July 23, 2019: US History, Society & Culture Excursion – Philadelphia Museum of Art
Enjoy the 240,000+ objects inside, including suits of armor and art ranging from recent to 2,000 years ago. Outside, enjoy the fountains at Eakin’s Oval, the Azalea Garden and public art behind the museum, and, of course, the famous museum steps!

Wednesday, July 24, 2019: Optional Evening Activity – Game Night at HGSC Game Room
The Game Room in Howard Gittis has something for everyone! Enjoy a game of billiards, ping pong (table tennis), air hockey, shuffle board, or one of the many card and board games with your fellow participants.

Tuesday, July 30, 2019: US History, Society & Culture Excursion – Spruce Street Harbor Park Summerfest
Enjoy Spruce Street Harbor Park and the RiverRink Summerfest right on the Delaware River with relaxing hammocks, an outdoor skating rink, games, and much more!

Friday, August 9th, 2019: Closing Ceremony & Farewell Luncheon
Enjoy a final celebration of your accomplishments throughout the six week program with your fellow BETT participants and IELP staff.
Saturday, August 10, 2019: Departure
Check out from the hotel will be by 1:00PM. The Temple University bus and interns will depart to the airport promptly at 1:30PM.
