Dr. Yimin D. Zhang served as a Technical Co-Chair of the IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing (SAM) Workshop, which was successfully held in Sheffield, U.K., between July 8 and July 11, 2018.
The IEEE SAM Workshop is one of the two official workshops of the Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Technical Committee (SAM TC) of the IEEE Signal Processing Society and is held biennially around the summer every even year. The other workshop of the IEEE SAM TC is the IEEE International Workshop on Computational Advances in Multi-Sensor Adaptive Processing (CAMSAP), which is held during the winter season in the odd years.
Dr. Zhang is an elected member of the SAM TC since 2015. He currently serves his second term which ends in 2020.
This year’s IEEE SAM Workshop includes five plenary talks given by distinguished experts and four tutorials that introduce the recent advances in array signal processing. 134 technical papers from 30 counties are accepted for presentation in 16 special sessions and 13 oral sessions. This workshop attracted more than 170 attendees.
Best Student Paper Awards were selected and presented to three student authors at a ceremony during the banquet which was held at the famous Chatsworth House. The workshop also supported 12 student attendees with travel grants through the funds received from the Office of Naval Research Global (ONRG) and the IEEE Signal Processing Society.
