Available Plugins

Sites.temple.edu has plugins that site admins can activate to extend the features and functionality of their site. Plugins are disabled by default. It’s recommended to only activate the plugins that you require. Having many plugins needlessly activated can slow down your site and clutter the admin menus.

New plugins can be requested by opening a help ticket. However, please note that not all requests are approved and the approval process can take over a month to complete.

bbPress allows you to add a forum/discussion board to your site. Users can create conversation topics and reply to others.

This plugin provides additional options to the post editor specific to bbPress.

Broken Link Checker

Checks your blog for broken links and missing images and notifies you on the dashboard if any are found.

Classic Editor

Enables the WordPress classic editor and the old-style Edit Post screen with TinyMCE, Meta Boxes, etc. Supports the older plugins that extend this screen.

Co-Authors Plus

This plugin allows you to add multiple authors to a single post on your blog.

CoBlocks

CoBlocks is powerful but lightweight: it adds functionality to the WordPress editor without bloat. This is the plugin you’ve been waiting for, and it will make you rethink what WordPress is capable of.

Collapsing Categories

Adds a new categories widget which uses javascript to expand and collapse categories to show the posts that belong to the category.

Content Expiration

The Content Expiration plugin allows authors to set an expiration time on their posts. The author is emailed two weeks before expiration and again upon expiration. Expired posts are marked as “expired,” never deleted.

The H5P plugin allows you to create and embed rich interactive multimedia content into your site. It uses HTML5 to support many different content types, including presentations, interactive videos with annotations, games, quizzes, fill-in-the-blanks, charts,  questionnaires, and more.

Jetpack by WordPress.com

Jetpack’s features are divided into modules. Modules can be activated or deactivated as desired. It provides various features, including LaTeX equations/forumalas, contact forms, extra sidebar widgets, the ability to embed content (YouTube Videos, Tweets, and more), detailed vistor stats, and more. Jetpack requires you to link a WordPress.com account. If you do not have one, you will have to create one (it’s free!). Learn how to use Jetpack.

Juicer

Juicer allows users to automatically pull in data from social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Vimeo, and more. Users can gather content by username or hashtag and create filters to limit content. It requires a free account on the Juicer website.

Knight Lab TimelineJS

TimelineJS is an open-source tool that enables anyone to build visually rich, interactive timelines. Beginners can create a timeline using nothing more than a Google spreadsheet, like the one we used for the Timeline above. Check out http://timeline.knightlab.com/ for more information.

Leaflet Map

Add a map generated with LeafletJS: an open-source JavaScript library for mobile-friendly interactive maps. Map tiles are provided by default through OpenStreetMap, or MapQuest (with an app key).

Members

A user and role management plugin that puts you in full control of your site’s permissions. This plugin allows you to edit your roles and their capabilities, clone existing roles, assign multiple roles per user, block post content, or even make your site completely private.

Modern Footnotes

Use a footnote in your post by using the footnote icon in the WordPress editor or by using the shortcode: [mfn]this will be a footnote[/mfn] The plugin will automatically associate sequential numbers with each plugin.

Really Simple CAPTCHA

Relevanssi is a search plugin that replaces the default WordPress search. It has advanced features, such as relevance-based results and boolean logic.
