    The response of Computer Recycling
    In the “Watchdog group tracks what really happens to your ‘recycled’ e-waste”, the reporter focuses on problems of computer recycling. Computer recycling is a serious problem that many people do not concern. To recycle computer, there must be a serious of processes that be conducted by professional people. On Hongkong, there are some computer recycle centers. However, they are not professional. The workers of these centers just simply to dismantle computers and other electric devices and find anything they can use to sell. In their working, there are many components are wasting because they don’t know that can useful or they have no ability to deal with it. On the other hand, these computer recycling centers do not have any devices to support recycling and limit environment pollution.
    Temple University has a good computer recycling center that have professional processes. However, it is not well known. Many students do not know about it and won’t try to take their old computers to the computer recycling center because they think it is not worth. The Temple should try to promote some advertisement that students would know there is a recycling center that accept any electric devices, and then it is good to organize some lecture to know the significance of computer recycling.

    CPU and Algorithms
    Computer’s job is to process number. When we want a computer to help to do something for our work. The computer will transform out orders to binary numbers that consist of 0 and 1. The processing start from getting a number form the keyboard into the accumulator. Then the computer prints the contents of the accumulator, stores a copy of the accumulator contents into the memory location, load the accumulator with contents of memory location M, add contents of memory location M to contents of the accumulator. In the final, the computer stops the execution. The CPU relies on the ALU, arithmetic logic unit, to perform algorithms and process binary numbers. It has three busses that consisting of two input operands and a result output. These busses are groups of signals that convey one binary integer number.
    The RAM location holds the number or instruction, that means the program that is made up by instruction and data items also store in the RAM. Every order from us will store in RAM, then it will tell CPU what to do.
    People’s order in computer won’t directly to transform binary numbers. After people write high-level languages that means their order, it will transform into the assembly language that is used to simplify the high-level languages and help the computer understand people’s orders more easily.
    The high-level programming language is to show all detail about people’s order and tell the computer what to do. In some kinds of arrangement, people write their order, and then the CPU will read the orders and processes them one by one. in final the CPU will get the result. That is what people want.
    The algorithm is the computer science version of a careful, precise, unambiguous recipe or tax form, a sequence of steps that is guaranteed to compute a result correctly.
    The are many different sorting algorithms. their sorting rules depend on alphabetical order. The computer will read the words’ alphabetical order and arrange two words that are close. Then it will read and arrange words again until all word follows the alphabetical order. There is ways is that the computer will directly find A at first, then find B by the alphabetical order.

    How CPUs work

    In the CPU, there are many logic gates that input and output two types of signals. These singals mean high state and low state about power of supply voltage. In binary, the high state is “1”, and the low state is “0”.

    1. Transistors – switches
    The transistor is determining whether a connection will be made between the Source and the Sink as switches. The complementary is to determine that turning on or off voltages. It likes a switch in circuit.
    2. Circuits — combination of transistors
    The circuit is a combination of transistors, and it requires three terminals at least
    3. Boolean Algebra
    The Boolean Algebra is a truth table for a function of n variables has 2n rows.
    4. Truth Table
    The truth table is a mathematical table, and it is always used in connection with Boolean Algebra.
    5. Logic Gates
    It includes AND, OR, XOR, NOT, NAND, NOR, AND XNOR.

    Chapter 2 Bits, Bytes, and Representation of Information
    In the digital world, people created a kind of language to represent information that they want to express such as worlds, images, and sound. That language is bits. The bits are digital numbers. The word bit is a contraction of binary digit. The binary means something with two value. In the binary, a bit is a digit that takes on either the value 0 or the value 1, and there are no other possibilities.
    With different arrangements, the bits can make up different orders to computer system such as on/off, true/false, and yes/no. The more complex orders mean more bit numbers. A group of bits assigning meanings to the different possible combination of 0’s and 1’s. The pattern of binary is about the number of bits to the number of items that can be labeled with that many bits. If there are X numbers, the number of different bit patterns is 2x.
    Binary number is using 2 instead of base 10. For example, 2019 is 2×103 + 0x102 + 1×101+ 9×100. A binary number like 1001 is 1×23+0x22+0x21+1×20.

    What’s in a computer?
    In the modern society, all most everyone know how to use computer, but the most of them do not know what consist their computer. Today we will introduce some important components of the computer.

    CPU: processor or central processing unit
    RAM: primary memory or random access memory
    Disks: secondary storage
    Et cetera: myriad other devices serve special functions.
