Tyler School of Art’s Alumni Gallery, Straw, is now accepting applications for the months of September-December, 2019. Work of all mediums will be accepted for consideration. The space will feature one artist per month. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with a written proposal (500 words max), propositional drawings, renderings, images and/or video. Please specify the equipment necessary for your installation to determine compatibility with the space.
What is Straw? In this particular case, it is an exhibit space that invites alumni to come back to the Tyler building and show their post-graduation work in the interdisciplinary setting of visibility between departments, faculty, students and public community.
Down the Green Hallway and to the right, just inside the double-doors leading to the sculpture woodshop, Straw is a seeming recess into a wall with a hidden vertical climb allowing for a show of intimate and upward proportions. The space is thirty feet tall, thirty-three inches wide and ninety-six inches long.
Unfortunately, the gallery’s mission is to spotlight alumni, so applications from individuals who have not attended Tyler School of Art will not be considered.
