Open Call for Proposals

The Sixth Annual Conference of the
Society for Arts Entrepreneurship Education
October 17-19, 2019
Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa

Educators, artists, program directors, students, and the curious are invited to participate in the sixth national meeting dedicated to arts entrepreneurship education. This conference will provide participants with opportunities to explore the intersections of business, the arts, and other disciplines in ways that enhance the teaching and learning of artistic enterprise. The Society’s inclusive atmosphere enables all participants to connect with colleagues concerning pedagogical methods and larger currents in the field. A link to the Society for Arts Entrepreneurship Education’s home page can be found here.

Call for Proposals
Session proposals should conform to one of three conference tracks:

  • Research: papers presenting original research on arts entrepreneurship pedagogy, theory, and/or practice, which adhere to established empirical practice;
  • Professional Development: interactive, hands-on workshops designed to strengthen conference attendees’ skills in developing programs, establishing partnerships, utilizing new pedagogical practices, etc.
  • New this year! – Arts Entrepreneurship Sandbox – Idea Development: Discussions, panels, and roundtables for developing research, emerging ideas, harnessing trends and overcoming obstacles

The Society hopes to attract proposals from an array of contributors: faculty, staff, undergraduates, graduate students, working artists, community leaders, and anyone willing to share their experiences as an arts entrepreneur.

The deadline for proposal submission is 5:00 pm EST on Saturday, June 1, and notification will be sent by June 15.

The first journal to focus on the emergent field of arts entrepreneurship, Artivate seeks works of original scholarship that engages with arts entrepreneurship in the following areas: entrepreneurship theory as applied to the arts; arts entrepreneurship education; arts management; arts and creative industries; public policy and the arts; the arts in community and economic development; nonprofit leadership; social entrepreneurship in or using the arts; evaluation and assessment in and of the field; innovation and arts technology; public practice in the arts. The editors are particularly interested in articles that actively link theory with practice in ways that will be of interest and impact to the broad cross-section of Artivate’s readership. Self-reflective case studies from arts entrepreneurs and empirical research from scholars are equally welcome.
